Omitting Crumb-Coating
In this video I show you exactly the effect of poorly crumb-coating a fondant cake. This is a huge mistake that haunted me all the way until the end of my work. Thinking that fondant will cover the cake and all the defects in it is a misconception that a lot of us have. Fondant will show the exact shape of the cake prior to it. Any bruises or bumps will be very clear after covering it with fondant.
I tried really hard to smooth all the bumps in it, but they were still very clear. The worst part was when I started airbrushing the cake, all the bruises in it where like potholes that collected the airbrush color and caused it to spread underneath the stencil.
The lesson learnt from that is:
Crumb coating and finishing your cake perfectly is the key to giving your cake a store bought look !!

في هذا الفيديو اشرح لكم أحد أشهر الأخطاء اللتي يقع فيها الكثيرين عند تغطية الكيكة بالفوندانت. عدم تشطي الكيك جيدا قبل تغطيتها بعجينة الفوندانت. الكثير منا يقع في هذا الخطأ ظنا منا ان الفوندانت سيغطي كل الحفر في الكيك. للأسف الذي يحدث هو العكس تماما. فتغطية الفوندانت تبرز بوضوح كل الحفر و العيو اللتي كانت في الكيكة قبل التغطية.
حاولت جاهدة ان أخفي هذه العيوب و لكن دون جدوى. المشكلة الأكبر كانت في مرحلة الاير برش. حيث ان الحفر أدت الى تجمع اللون و انتشاره حولها.
الدرس من ذلك: ما بني على باطل فهو باطل
لابد من تشطيب الكيكة تشطيبا جيداقبل تغطيتها الفوندانت
